2017 Round Southport Race
Welcome to the 2017 Round Southport Race Information page.

The Annual 'Round Southport Race is a popular pursuit race that (almost) circumnavigates Southport Island. The original 'Round Southport Race was held from 1968 to 1983 and actually did go all the way around the island including racing through the bridge. Unfortunately this is no longer possible so when the race was revived in 2011 it was decided to alternate directions each year with one end of the course near the North end of the Townsend Gut and the other end near Tumbler Island.

For 2017, the course runs from West to East and Southport Yacht Club will be providing the RC with awards and party after the race at BHYC. BHYC currently holds the Trash Can which is awarded to the club which has the best score among the top three overall finishers from each club.

This 9.55 nautical mile race is great fun and can present some intriguing challenges. We are looking forward to seeing you on the water on July 2nd!
